Basically this Christian Right Wing group called Warriors For Innocence complained to LJ that they weren't doing anything about pedophiles and child molesters who use the site, so LJ went through and arbitrarily suspended/deleted all these journals that had the word "incest" among other things in their user interests, including a Lolita discussion group and an incest survivors group. Badly done there.
They also, and this is where fandom comes into it, deleted/suspended a lot of accounts who post fictional stuff about incest and underage sex, etc, summarily and without warning, suddenly claiming that they were violating TOS.
And it's not like I support pedophiles or child molesters, but they ended up cracking down on a lot of innocent people that don't hurt anybody.
It's turned into a shit storm of epic wanky proportions, mostly because LJ did this without even warning people, and still, over 24 hrs later, hasn't said anything about it officially. Also, it's very worrying that LJ basically caved to this small group of people with no legal authority, and have, in the wake of this, done nothing to even acknowledge people's complaints, let alone fix things. They have essentially alienated and pissed off the entire fanfiction community on LJ, which is a LOT of people. And we're mad. And depending on how they handle this, you could see a mass exodus of fandom over to a different blogging platform.
