Incoherent rambling ahead:

OMG glee. GLEE.

Seriously, nothing but love for this whole episode, down to the utterly lame way they somehow managed to take whales + ancient ghosts + corona-sphere explosion whateverthehecks and throw them together into a coherent plotline. YES. *pets SGA* It was like a vaguely cracked out piece of fanfiction.

The character bits! The Teyla and Ronon interaction was WONDERFUL. Oh my heart, it went all clenchy several times. (Random nit pick, it would have been cool to have the anuerism guy die before Ronon gave Teyla the 'you've got to hang on' speech, as I was like, "Wait, she's dying? What??") I love the two of them, and the most love OF ALL for when Ronon asked Sheppard if he had a plan, because of course. That scene was like Ronon's relationships with both of them all happily condensed. And then at the end Ronon offered to let Teyla hit him, OMG he's so adorably whipped.

And there was Radek! And he raced homing pigeons! *draws hearts*

I loved the "WHAT?" gag throughout, it was hilarious, especially at the end. Oh Elizabeth. You should be a dork more often. It makes you far more likable. (For example, that season 2 bit with her and Ronon and the chess match? BEST EVER.)

Also, Heightmeyer dyed her hair! And shat all over doctor-patient confidentiality for the sake of Teyla exposition! (Oh, SGA.) But there were scenes with all three of them! Just the girls! I was sadly impressed.

However, and as much as I hate to be one of those horrible McShep fangirls who just talks about them and ignores everything else, how made of awesome was the Sheppard/McKay interaction here?? They were on a balcony together! The balcony to me is a place where the writers, besides closing up episodes, try and fail to stage het subtext, so this was cool.

John was soo jealous/irritated that McKay named the whale Sam and brushed off the fact that John saved him. Which is interesting, because I've always gotten the impression that the "Sheppard and I have this thing where we save each other's lives" thing was very tacit and kind of assumed between them. As in, I'll save your life, you'll save mine, it's what we do, 'cause I don't want you to die, right, um, let's not talk about, 'kay?

And ignoring the blatant slash googles read of John being jealous, it would be possible to see his reaction as sort of upsetting that normal balance of things, as though John was expecting some acknowledgement, because Rodney would have died if John hadn't bullied the hell out of everyone into helping while calmly freaking out on the inside. And maybe Rodney has never fully realized everything John (and Zelenka) had to do to save him from the puddle jumper. And maybe just as John expects Rodney to save the day everytime, Rodney expects John to save him. And maybe, even though he'd never admit it, John would like a thank you. Or something. (Something = Sex.) Or at least for Rodney to act like half as much of a completely shameless *dork* over him as he does over Sam.

I loved John's immediate offer to go check out Rodney's whale, because you know he still thinks that the submersible puddlejumper is the coolest thing ever. And Rodney's "...Okay." was cute too.

John's expression when Rodney's nose started bleeding was weird and heart clenchy. Need to rewatch it.

I also loved John trying to get Rodney's attention in the infirmary. That scene? Straight out of fanfiction. So adorable, especially the petulant "Meredith" at the end. I've generally thought that John's desire to have Rodney pay attention to him all the time is something out of fanon, but then we get scenes like this, and yeah. So cute.

I loved that John came up with the plan. And that it was kind of stupid and suicidal and worked anyway. Straight from the John Sheppard Manual of Plan Fs and How To Make Them Work For You.

Anyway, great episode, I LOVE EVERYONE. The end.
