Oh man, I hope it doesn't disappoint. There will be one very upset fandom if it sucks. I'm excited, but also a little sad that there probably won't be any more John-meets-Rodney's-sister backstory fics...
Yeah, you're right. I *love* the different Jeannies I've found in fic, and I'm certainly hoping the canon version is equally awesome. But out of anyone in the world who could play her, I'm glad it's DH's sister- and out of anyone in the world who could write the episode, I'm glad it's Martin Gero.
I guess that the downside of actually getting character development and backstory on SGA is that is kind of screws with fanon, which has been able to do all that mostly without interference until now. Heh.
Besides, hey, we've got until, what? August until it airs? Plenty of time for lots more Jeannie fic before then. ;)
Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing DH and his sister on screen together. And, well, it sounds like they have at least some of the characterization that fanon's given her, so I think it'll probably be good.
I'm so excited about this ep. And it they're going in a totally different direction with her character than I expected, which is cool. I'm glad Gero is writing it, though!
I know! I love the idea of her being smarter than Rodney and giving it up for family. It just sets up so much stuff for Rodney's character and the development we've seen over both seasons. I can't wait.
And yes, thank god Gero's writing it; I don't really trust any of the other writers with the character development heavy lifting stuff.
