So. As I'm sure you all know, the
crack_van is on hiatus for the month. *tear. moment of silence*
My life would be rather different if it weren't for that site. At the very least it can be blamed for my odd collection of Candian movies and TV shows.
Anyway, this seems like a perfect opportunity to break open the "JIC" file on my computer. JIC stands for "just in case", specifically just in case my internet connection goes, or I'm traveling somewhere with my laptop but with no internet. If I really like something, anything, in even the most random fandom I have only a passing interest in, I save it to the JIC file. The JIC file is also where all my downloaded vids go. It's currently weighing in at around 856 MB total.
And really, aren't you all just fascinated to see what I have there? No need to reply, I can see that you are. :) Some of these are going to be found among the
crack_van's memories, but I guess it can just be a reminder during the long, long month ahead.
Anyone else feel like joining me in operating their own personal sketchy
crack_van out the back of their car?

Title: As Lucifer Fell by Sue
Pairing: Valjean/Javert
Author Website: The Android's Dungeon
Part of the reason I like this is because I discovered it when I was actually in the show in HS. The guys playing Valjean and Javert had chemistry like woah. (Seriously, everyone said so, it wasn't just me over here in Everyone's Gay Lalala Land.) And maybe you're sitting here being like, "What?" But think about it: Javert spends his entire life hunting Valjean, Valjean spends his entire life running from Javert. Valjean saves Javert's life, which brings Javert to a stunning realization about the differenc between the law and justice (which also, uh, leadstohissuicide). It's tragic! It's romantic! But don't worry, Sue makes it all better, and keeps the characters as they should be, and she even makes you almost like Cosette. And maybe they're have been more since I last poked around this fandom, but used to be this was the only good take on this pairing out there. I think it's more than good, though. Try great.

*happy sigh* This might one of my all time favorite Muncle fics. It's short, but powerful. It starts off as a Napoleon muses rather ironically on some of the cliches of Muncle- and if you've even seen one episode of this show, you know it's about the campiest thing evah and there are many. Its a really nice character piece that builds up into an ending that is just exquisite. It still hits me here everytime.

I love this story. I remember it as being one of the very first Sports Nights fics I'd ever read. It's a little angsty, maybe, one of those reconcillation/reunion fics, but Sabine gets inside Danny's head and just nails him. She's so good at showing not telling, so that we know exactly what's going on, even if Dan hasn't got it figured out yet. The baseball metaphor stuff is wonderful (and very informative, if you, like me, know fuck all about America's Favorite Pastime). And also, a lot of it is about writing, one of my favorite subjects. Lovely.

It's an adorable Christmas fic from the Slash Advent Calendar. One of my favorite entries in the calendar. Sweet without being too schmoopy.

This is one I was sooo close to reccing this past month on
crack_van. Looking back, I wish I had. Because it's one of those fics that has some of the most memorable F/K interaction I've come across. It's RayK in denial, and really, no one does denial quite like RayK. Nifra's RayK voice is so compelling. The sheer tension in this piece is wonderful, starting right from the first sentence, and it just keeps ratcheting up (the conversation at the restaurant), and up (the hallway), and finally the resolution is so breathtaking I can't even tell you.

Sure the song may be a wee bit over-exposed, but that doesn't change the fact that this is one of the most beautiful vids I've ever seen. It's soooo gorgeous. It does for Norrington what Laura Shapiro's "Lord, I Have Made You a Place in My Heart" did for Fraser- I honestly didn't really know Norrington until I watched this. Seriously, even if (especially if) you're not a fan of Norrington, watch it.

Heheh. This one pokes fun at all us slashers with hetsquick. Very entertaining. And the best thing about it is that for all the het macking on this vid, the song is so very, very gay. I love it!
