Mere's latest health update: Ah. Not only do I have an incomplete fracture of my fifth metatarsal, I have not a shoe cast, but a full-on plaster of fiberglass cast. For a month. Crutches for a month. *le sigh*

Do you guys know how much of a pain in the ass it will be to get to my dorm, which is ever so conveniently located on the third floor of a building without an elevator? I'm so looking foward to it.

I really need to stop whining about this.

So I'm home for the weekend. Took the train. Meg was supposed to get on the train at Fredericksburg. We were delayed an hour getting there, though. The following is a transcript of cell phone conversations between Meg and I, probably embellished a little for comedic purposes.

(On cell phone)
Meg: Here's a train. Is that you?
Me: No.
Meg: Okay.
(hangs up)

15 minutes later:

Meg: Hi. Are you guys slowing down? 'Cause there's a train slowing down near the station.
Mere: No. We're stopped.
Meg: Are you sure?
Mere: Yes.
Meg: Really?
Mere: Yes.
(hangs up)

This happened quite a few times.

And then, when the train finally pulled into the Fredericksburg...

Meg: Is that you guys?
Mere: Yeah. We're here.
Meg: Oh.
*pause*
Meg: Hmm. I'm on the wrong platform.
(Train starts pulling away)
Meg: Shit. (Sound of running) Shit. Shit. Shit!
(Train still pulling away.)
Meg: Shit! Oh my God, are you pulling away?!?!!
Mere. Um. Yep.
(Train is gone.)
*pause*
Meg: I don't what to say. I'll call you later.
(hangs up)

I almost wish I'd had a window seat so I could have seen it.

So Meg's a little pissed, and I'm a little bummed. But the whole thing is rather funny in retrospect.
