SGA Meta-rec with a side of RL whining.

I was in SGA fandom longer than any fandom I've ever been in before or since. It was a great ride and it's basically over and I've been struggling for a while to sort it all out.
Now thankfully I don't have to because
spike21 has done it for me, and just in time for the finale tonight:
Her thoughts on SGA 5x20 and SGA in general are here- SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY.
Also, after at least a week or so of low-grade fatigue and nausea, I'm prepared to admit that there's a slight possibility that I'm pregnant. And by that I mean getting sick. (AHAHA got you! I hope someone was drinking tea near their computer.) I can feel a cough coming on and I just hope this isn't another bout of Welcome to Your First Winter in New York City Have Some Bronchitis That Lasts For Two Months like last year.
As anyone who knows me will guess, I'm not really good at being sick. I manage to walk that oh so irritating line of wanting everyone to do stuff for me while simultaneously insisting that I don't need any help and what's more I'm not sick anyway. Thankfully for me and all of my friends/family/coworkers/roommates, it doesn't happen often.
I'm going out tonight and meeting someone around lunch tomorrow but after that I think I'll spend the rest of the weekend curled up with my PJs, Brideshead Revisited (1981) Disc 2, a large thing of OJ and a stubborn insistence on mind over matter.

Date: 2009-01-09 10:08 pm (UTC)And right now it's mostly lurking on the horizon. It's not that bad...yet. We'll see.

Date: 2009-01-09 10:10 pm (UTC)When I didn't take anything at the beginning of whatever that infection was, every day saw me get more and more rundown until I was practically a walking corpse. Taking Mucinex kept the sinus swelling down and my lungs clear so I can breathe...which I think is a natural function I don't mind preserving artificially.
Also, I think it's silly to hate OTC drugs but refuse to see a doctor to get a prescription :P

Date: 2009-01-09 11:49 pm (UTC)It's true that I hate doctors, but for the record, I totally saw the doctor-in-my-building twice during last years' bout of WTYFWINYCHSBTLFTM, and both times it was all "Oh, it's most likely viral blah blah blah."

Date: 2009-01-09 10:39 pm (UTC)I'm pretty bad at being sick too as evidenced by me complaining that the first chest cold that I've ever had was lingering. (It lasted exactly 5 days which is way longer than I'm normally sick).

Date: 2009-01-09 11:51 pm (UTC)And 5 days totally counts as lingering!

Date: 2009-01-10 12:10 am (UTC)Not according to my co-workers it doesn't. But I got my revenge when I infected my lab partner, one of my bosses and the guy who sits opposite me. I'm the not very nice person who prefers to spread the suffering around :D.

Date: 2009-01-10 03:05 pm (UTC)Yeah, if I do get full on sick, all I have to do is cough once in a crowded subway car and I'll be that girl as well. :)

Date: 2009-01-10 12:29 am (UTC)Anyways, feel better! I've been dealing with sickness crap a lot too, maybe I've got the Welcome to Your First Winter in Paris version. :/

Date: 2009-01-10 03:08 pm (UTC)Thanks! Last year's illness definitely had something to do with moving to New York I think, what with it being dirtier, more crowded and colder than I'm used to.

Date: 2009-01-13 03:35 pm (UTC)See, I decided I wanted to re-watch the series b/c I found my season 1 discs when I was unboxing media recently, but I also wanted to get into the slasher headspace so the show would be more interesting, so I decided to read a bit. Then it got out of control, like it does...

It's always an interesting experience to see the source material after reading a bunch of fic (something I haven't done since due South). The show's not bad! Though it has its dated moments (see Doyle, Bodie, and Cowley spying on a woman undressing with the rifle sighting and then ahaha having a good chuckle fade to black!).
