SGA 5x19. I probably should flock this. Eh.

I haven't been watching SGA since 5.15, but I've been reading more fic lately and I think I've come to a place where the show doesn't make me just sad/bored/pissed off any more. Plus my weakness for leaked media is legion. So:



*The wraith disguising himself as a human. So cool. It felt very Terminator to me, with him looking in the mirror and whatnot.

*The nods to police procedurals with the TV camera work (zooming in on the beating heart ala CSI, the black & white photos ala NCIS) were fairly amusing at first. As was the rock soundtrack. I really liked it in the end though, because it succeeded in making it feel like a completely different show, in a way that none of the other "AU" episodes have.

*To that end, I also liked how bleak this universe was- without any fascist undertones like "The Road Not Taken," or the bizarro universe of the Mensa!verse. It wasn't overdone conceptually- it was just a place of frustrated potential and isolation, clearly exemplified by John. OH JOHN. His character felt like something I've read in about 20 different AUs, down to the car. In terms of body language, he was definitely more hunched over than our John.

*I wasn't really sure how much Rodney was going to be in this episode, and was very pleasantly surprised by his appearance. The suit and he comb-over hair was adorable. He felt a lot more chilly than usual?

*"I know everything about you." Mmm. I really wanted John to punch him in the face and then they would have bitter sex on the table or something. And then John could have a piece of spearmint gum instead of a cigarette.

*Dear AU universe: WHERE ARE RADEK'S GLASSES? NO LOVE.

*Todd! Poor crazy starving Todd. :(

*I had to re-watch the scene between John and Rodney outside the facility about 3 times, because I assumed the field medic John saved was Holland, which is why there were 30 glorious seconds of my life were I thought that when Rodney said that John was "involved" with the medic that it was a "he" and it *was* HOLLAND AND OMG WE'VE BEEN RIGHT THE WHOLE TIME. Sadly no. I have every faith in fandom to fix this clearly egregious error.

*John, alone and bleeding out (dying?) in the middle of the desert + Johnny Cash's "Solitary Man" = THERE IS SOMETHING IN MY EYE I SWEAR. I was actually surprised they went there.

Overall, it was a good episode, unusual, enjoyable, and fairly smoothly tied in to the regular show. I will say that it felt a little strange as the penultimate episode of SGA, especially with the last image. (JOHN IS ALONE IN THE DESERT + GOODBYE + THE END???)

Where is the fic?

Also, I am saving 5.20 until I have more time and a LARGE BOTTLE OF WINE.

The last episode that I watched was 5x15 and I haven't been able to watch them since.

I'm waiting till the final episode has aired and then a friend and I are going to tell another friend that she has to get us drunk so that we can finally watch the last 5 episodes.

I think its a good plan ;)

That is brilliant! I feel like there needs to be some sort of Last Five Episodes of SGA drinking game. With tequila. So that by the time the credits roll on 5.20, you're too plastered to get maudlin/pissed off/I don't know because I haven't been able to make myself watch it yet.

I haven't seen anything since 5.10, actually - I've just been too busy. Are any of them beyond that worth it? XD

There have been some okay episodes, but IMO there hasn't been much *memorable* stuff since the Shrine. (I actually had to look up which episode had been the last one I watched, yikes!) I did like 5.19 a lot- it's worth seeing. Verrrry pretty if nothing else. :)
