Have a very long, very busy, very social Memorial Day weekend. I got to see most of the High School friends in DC, yay! My mom also met my dad's wife for the first time, yay awkward!


Anyway, I was pretty exhausted and irritated by the time I got off the subway last night around 11:15, because I'd been hoping to get in around 10ish instead of 11ish and at that point I just wanted to go to bed and not talk to anyone for a day. However, I happened to meet my roommate coming back from Milwaukee, and we got out of the subway at 125th to find Police EVERYWHERE and the entire street blocked off.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't get home a hour earlier. They found one of the victims on the corner of my block (the youngest of which was 13, jesus). I don't even know what to think about it.

I will. Most of the time, when people ask me about Harlem, I say that it's actually pretty safe, contrary to your preconceived notions, kthx. At least compared to anywhere else in NYC. Still, I'm a little spooked.

Thanks! So strange. But for a scrap of police tape on the sidewalk and the hum of one last news chopper, you'd never even know this morning that anything had happened.
