So the A/C adapter for my laptop has always been a little screwy. It's been replaced once already in the year and half I've had my computer, and is frankly a poorly-designed piece of crap.

Lately though, the head of it has been fraying, tiny wires poking out, and it had gotten to the point where if I detached it from my laptop but didn't unplug it, it would freak out and not start charging again unless the computer was turned on. This is what it started doing before it died on me the first time (actually almost exactly a year ago). So yeah, I figured it would need to be replaced soon. However, I thought it could wait until I was back home and free from the sketchiness that is the W&M post office.

Well, turns out I shouldn't have.

So last night, after Vagina Monologues rehearsal, I come home, and I don't have any plans even though it's the last day of classes, where it's traditional that you start drinking at 10 am and don't stop until like 3 am or you pass out, whichever comes first. So I'm feeling like a bit of a loser anyway, combined with an unsettling walk home that really made me stop and take a look at myself and how I've changed lately, and why. As in, what changes have been good, and which ones are tantamount to me strangling the bits of myself I don't want to accept.

So to begin with, I was pretty much on the verge of tears when I got home. And then, I'm talking to my friend Connie online, feeling a little better, and suddenly, the screen of my computer goes dead. It was like a power failure, only all the lights are on. And the battery was fully charged.

The computer wouldn't turn back on.

As of this morning, it still won't turn on. I figure the A/C adapter must have shorted my poor baby out. It's completely dead, and though I haven't called Dell yet, I'm pretty sure at this point that I'll have to prepare myself for either massively expensive repairs at best, or having to buy a new laptop at the worst. Either way, my hardrive's probably fucked.

Anyone who knows how friggin' attached I am to that machine, what a security blanket it is, you might not be surprised to learn that Mere had a bit a breakdown at this point. My poor rommie probably thinks I'm a mental case for sobbing all over the place because of a laptop.

It took going on a run, some more crying, and a due South tape before I was able to go to sleep. Heh.

So. Crap. Crap. CRAP evening. And a marginally better morning. And there's so much other stuff swimming around in my head right now, and I can't even afford to deal with it at this point because I'm too busy and I have finals and...yeah.

Ahem. On another note, here's a haiku, gacked from [livejournal.com profile] wordweaver06, v. appropriate:
