*In college, I used to be a fairly ridiculous person. I don't mean in the frat-girl, dancing-on-the-table, streaking-the-quad kind of way (OK FINE ONLY SOMETIMES), but more that I used to be way more of a spazz. A procrastinating, all-over-the-place, sometimes-a-flake of a girl. Consequently, I spent most of my time in college when I was not in class fighting the urge to walk to the sunken gardens and do a massive, full body, HOLY SHIT WHY IS MY LIFE SO AWKWARD faceplant into the grass.

I'm not saying this is a great way to live, and I do enjoy being mostly (ha) on top of my shit and on time/early to work every day, etc. Still, there is a part of me that wishes I could go back (metaphorically) to that time in my life where my mom walked into a room with me and my friends and said, I found this vibrator when I was cleaning the basement, where do you want me to put it? (TRUE STORY, KIDS.)

That's weird, right?

Anyway, the point of this story is actually not my post-adolescent angst, it's about vibrators. (Surprise!)

This weekend I went with one of my roomies and some friends to the West Village to go vibrator shopping. I haven't owned a vibrator since the aforementioned one from high school that my mom found. (More than once. It became a theme.)

LOOK WHAT I BOUGHT GUYS. Link is technically NSFW, but it’s pretty stealth AS YOU WILL SEE. Why YES that is a vibrator that looks like a tube of lipstick and the top pops off so you can charge it in any USB port.

Things I like right now:

1. Things that are fuchsia
2. Things that are Swedish
3. Things that LOOK LIKE ONE THING BUT ARE ACTUALLY ANOTHER THING
4. Things that I can charge in my baby laptop that WEIGHS 2.5 LBS AND FITS IN MY PURSE AND NO ONE WILL KNOW WHAT IT IS
5. VIBRATORS

Basically, yay!


*In fandom news, I’m being feeling a wee bit strange. As in bizarrely wandering back down memory lane and reading stuff like Professionals fic and Ray/Ray Due South stuff and sad McShep stories that remind me why John Sheppard can break my heart into tiny pieces like no one else. I think it has to do with Merlin being on hiatus and SGA being over and maybe I’m a wee bit adrift? I dunno. :(


*In more news, I signed up for the Pay It Forward meme from verav and then, ignoring the whole point, forgot to post it to my lj. So! Here it is! Look out for baked goods, probably vegan ones (even though I’m not vegan anymore). But who knows, I might get inspired to do something else like write all that fic I mention but never finish:

Oooooooh, that is one pretty vibrator. The shop's down in West Village, you say? I might have to drop by with the bf next time I'm in NYC. I have a vibe that a college roommate gave me years and years ago, and I could do with a new one (especially one that I can charge on my laptop!). It's pretty and gadget-y all at once! We went to a few, but this one was our favorite (http://nymag.com/listings/stores/the-pleasure-chest/). I'd recommend it, or Babeland (http://www.babeland.com/) in the LES.

Ohhhh, I'm always open to find new Vibrators! And that one really IS stealthy looking! Great, now I'm pondering about buying one of my own *sigh* But a girl needs fun in her life, right? Right?

Awww, sad McShep stories? I don't think that any other fandom except SGA made me cry like a baby. I never know if I'm awed or pissed about it ;) Mostly awed because SERIOUSLY. Still, I'm sad too that SGA is over, though after this lame season, I am also a bit glad the torture is over.

Yeah, I read chandri's Primacy (http://community.livejournal.com/mcsmooch/123988.html), which if you haven't read it is this really awesome heartbreaking/-mending post-Shrine fic.

And me too. I am pretty glad I don't have to suffer through any more of the show after Season 5. There was a point where I was so frustrated I couldn't read any SGA fic at all. Now I'm over it, but I just feel like everything is tinged with this melancholy because John ends up *alone* and I...can't handle it. (Je suis LOSER!)
