Some recs for today, because it is Friday, yay, and there's no new SGA night, boo.
First, what I like to call SGA Fandom Crack Watch, because it's important to keep tabs on these things.
Just when you thought that it couldn't get worse/MORE AWESOME than the animal transformation fics or even the gingerbread cookie holiday porn,
lavvyan steps up and gives us a hilarious and strangely touching flower!AU. A flower!AU. And it actually works, kids. Glee, people. Unbridled glee. I LOVE THIS FANDOM.
Life in Bloom by
lavvyan
and it's sequel The Necessity of Having a Bee (or Not) by
lavvyan. (Be sure to scroll down the the comments and check out the hilarious icons/photo manips by
smuffster. Heeeeee.)
Next, a pair of recs, with pretty simular themes, one which made me go "Oh, Rodney," and the other which made me go "Oh, John."
Five Impossible Things Rodney McKay Did Before Breakfast by
laceymcbain
I admit that the title sold me before I read a word, because that Lewis Carroll quote makes me ridiculously happy. Nonetheless, the story itself is gripping and beautiful, and shows us Rodney at his brilliant, Brave Little Toaster best. *loves*
And The Second Time Rodney McKay Surprised the Hell Out of John Sheppard by
franticsga.
This is part of a series newcomer
franticsga is working on, and you can check them all out in her journal, but so far this one is my favorite.
franticsga not only nails all the character voices here, but she also manages to make John's reaction here wholly IC and believable, a feat indeed.
I'm off to work on resume stuff (AHHH I HAVE TO GET A JOB OR SOMETHING DAMN GRADUATING), and trying to finish my DVD commentary challenge entry by the end of today.

Also, that

For example, every single time any one of the main characters has made out on this show it's been because 1. was character's body was being possessed by a woman. 2. one character was turning in a bug 3. one character was a hallucination of the other (AND they went there with the wanking joke) and 4. both characters were possessed by 1000 yr old aliens who wanted to kill each other. And let's not forget the episode with the sex pheremones.
Conclusion: SGA WTF!!

And yeah, it's easy to get behind when pesky RL crap gets in the way. ;) (So have you read "A Farm in Iowa" yet? Or "A Supermarket in California"?)

Although, man, I read a great HP fic last weekend, I think by
I was thinking I might be able to catch up now that the episodes have stopped airing, but then I remembered that BSG starts this week...

Do you know what the deal is with the BSG webisode thingies? I'm trying to figure out if I need to watch them before Friday or not.
