I've decided that I either update this thing either when I have no work, or a whole bunch of work. Guess which applies to this past week? Yay finals.

Anyway, having finished this week's hellish spate of work (2 papers, 1 exam, 1 project, 2 presentations), I decided to reward myself by finally registering for [livejournal.com profile] con_txt! I don't know if shelling out $80 is exactly a reward necessarily, but...yay!

It'll be my first con ever, and I'll be able to drive there! And so many awesome people will be at it and I'll be 21 by then and there's a disco dance thing planned. (Oh man. Disco.) I'm a wee bit nervous, though, as all of the fannish people I've ever meet in RL have been people I've known before I knew they were fannish. As a bit of a lurker around fandom, I'm hoping I don't end up as the awkward kid in the awkward corner being awkward. Still, in conclusion: yay!

Have decided to further reward myself by popping 'round to the bookshop and buying Throne of Jade, [livejournal.com profile] naominovik's second book. Also: yay!

Oooh cool. I'd be nervous too, but I bet it'll be fun! Come back with stories :)

And...I want to read her books omg.

Yes, I'm sure there will be plenty of stories- and presents, too, because I know I'll blow waay too much money. :)

You should definitely try to get your hands on them. The main character is a little hard to get a handle on, maybe, but he grows on you and it's soooo well researched and innovative.

Plus, it's really interesting to read a mass market fantasy novel written by a slasher. There's all sorts of things you can't help but read into it.
