While [personal profile] twentysomething  and I were hunkering down for Hurricane Irene (which, very anticlimactic where we were, thank goodness), we were sucked into [personal profile] mklutz and [personal profile] rageprufrock 's fandom podcast, slash report. If you haven't listened to it before it's worth checking out. Here's the info for  this week's, stolen from Pru:

This week on /report, we talk about desert island fanfiction, people who would make good Sentinels (ugh), and then trick [personal profile] merelyn and bonus [personal profile] twentysomething into hanging out with us during their hurricane party to discuss fandom diaspora-stroke-fragmentation. We play our inaugural round of Fannish Safari, make a lot of Mean Girls references, and give you our recs for the week!

To the podcast!

Happy listening!

For those bandom peeps on my dwcircle/flist, you might be the most interested in the part where I try valiantly to relate an entire history of bandom in under two minutes. IT'S REALLY HARD Y'ALL. IT'S NOT LIKE A TV SHOW WITH A CONCISE CENTRAL PREMISE OKAY.

For everyone else, you might be interested in the parts where [personal profile] twentysomething explains her amnesty rules, and then we talk about dinosaurs fucking.

...yeah. Don't say I didn't warn you.
merelyn: (brendon/spencer smile)
So [personal profile] twentysomething and I go pretty far back. (We are celebrating our six year friend-aversary this fall, so apparently that means you should send us candy and iron, okay! Okay.)

Anyway, I don't know how many of you guys know this, but I was in a sorority in college. My sorority was not exactly typical to the mental picture most people probably have in their heads. Yes, there were a lot of sundresses. And drama. And drinking. And boys, which was not exactly my bag. But my sorority also had a deep streak of nerdiness. For example, one of my sorority sisters and I co-founded our college's Harry Potter Club, which had sorting ceremonies and Quidditch games and at one point the highest active membership number of any extracurricular club on campus. (Booyah.)

Another example: my sorority twin (i.e. we were in the same sorority family) was the kind of girl who had every single season of all 5 incarnations of Star Trek on DVD. She was (and is) awesome.

And then she took a little.

Five guesses as to who her little was. That's right, [personal profile] twentysomething, aka Princess Kate, aka my terrible fannish soulmate and best bro forever.

But I didn't know it then. And at that point I'd never met anyone fannish IRL who I didn't know on the internet first. And I'm not going to say Kate read like a norm (if you've ever met her or heard her open her mouth you would be quickly disabused of that happy notion), but she wasn't going around with a sign that said I READ GAY PORN ON THE INTERNET IF YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN AND I THINK THAT YA DO either. And there was no secret fangirl handshake (AND WHY DOESN'T ONE EXIST AND NOT LIKE THIS OKAY SOMETHING SECRET), but occasionally there would be a few stray telling comments. And I would think,  "...is she?"

(Do you ever do that with people you meet IRL? You have your fangirl suspicions, but you don't know for sure! How do you ask them without seeming like at total weirdo if you're wrong? Why is their no fandom Ann Landers for these fraught situations? "You are of my people, aren't you?" you try to say with your eyes. But it comes off more like, "I have something in my eye or possibly I'm hitting on you. Heeeey.")

And so for a few months we circled each other, suspecting but not sure. But then, one night, we were driving somewhere with my twin//Kate's big, and I have no idea how we got on the subject of Pirates of Caribbean, but we did, and I think it was me, but I said something under my breath about "Sparrington." (Yeah, do you remember Jack/Norrington back in the day? Good times, y'all, good times.)

And it was one of those moments that happens a lot in sitcoms or farces, that dawning mutual realization moment, standing up and pointing dramatically:

Person 1:YOU!
Person 2:YOU!
Person 1, still stuck on it: NO, YOU!
(etc., repeat as necessary)

And the rest is terrible history. I did ultimately end up quitting my sorority, but I will never regret joining, and a big reason why is because I met Kate. &Kate;

So why am I telling you this story, you might be wondering? Right, this is my really long way of saying that [personal profile] twentysomething is awesome and wrote a girl!Brendon/girl!Spencer sorority AU and IT IS THE FIC OF MY HEART FOR SO MANY REASONS and except for the part where none of it is true, it really really is true, and if you're into that sort of thing YOU SHOULD GO READ IT RIGHT NOW.
merelyn: yes, that is panda from skins hugging a giant fluffy cupcake pillow. (Default)
A few days ago, [personal profile] twentysomething went and posted some girl!Kevin/Mike fic of utter preciousness.

These Words About a Girl by [personal profile] twentysomething (Katie Jonas/Mike Carden)

It's girl!Skippy fic! Bweee! Like this: "It's more or less forgotten until the VMAs- when Bill- fucking Bill- appears at Mike's elbow and goes, "Michael, I've mentioned Demi to you before, haven't I? Oh, and this is her bosom companion, Miss Katherine Jonas."

And THEN she posted a girl!Brendon/girl!Spencer college AU that she claims is her id in fic, which, fair warning, her id and my id live in the same place. They're neighbors. Terrible roommates. Bad influences on each other. Something like that.

Can We Fast Forward by [personal profile] twentysomething (girl!Brendon/girl!Spencer)

I'm just going to say that Spencer is trudging her way through this terrible Life Drawing class and then one day Brendon shows up as the model and things go from there. Everything I love, nothing I hate.

LONG STORY SHORTT: KATE IS AWESOME, BRB ROLLING AROUND IN THIS FOREVER.

Snagged from most recently psuedo_catalyst and [personal profile] solarcat, but this going around like head lice at a preschool, so:

Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Feel free to ask about anything and I'll tell you the premise or paste you a tidbit for any of these.

"Wait!" You might be saying to yourself. "[personal profile] merelyn never posts fic, does she even write?"

A better question would be, does [personal profile] merelyn ever finish anything? And the answer to that is mostly no, which is why I can do this meme. I am trying to get better at finishing things that I start, and maybe this will help.

I'm at work at the moment, so these are just from my google docs. I'm sure there are more things at home I've forgotten about that have never even made it off my laptop. Beware of falling song lyric titles. For fandom reference, most of these are Bandom or SPN with one Merlin and one Pinto (ETA: I mean Star Trek. Whoops. Clearly it's been awhile since I looked at that one) fic in there I totally forgot about:

My soul at the moment can best be expressed by this gif:

[personal profile] twentysomething IS COMPELLED BY OUR TERRIBLE AND PROFOUND BOND OF LIKE, CATS AND BRENDON/SPENCER TO COME AND I KNOW [personal profile] solarcat IS AWESOMELY COMING DOWN BUT IS ANYONE ELSE ON MY FLIST GOING TO BE THERE?
merelyn: (st trinian's)
Yeah, so that New Year's Eve party that [personal profile] leupagus and I were going to host? It's not going to happen, between the snow and travel shenanigans suffered on both our parts and also the fact that New York City is ridiculous enough on NYE when the streets haven't been massively slushied like a character on Glee (flavor: dirt and pee).

Sorry to cancel, but I'm sure we can goad [personal profile] leupagus into arranging a proper fangirl meetup at a bar sometime in January on a less crazy day when more people are free and whatnot.

...And now I'm off to read that Sandlot slash fic from Yuletide that will most likely break my childhood in half with a hammer of gay. Hope you all are safe and well and not trapped in an airport. ♥
merelyn: yes, that is panda from skins hugging a giant fluffy cupcake pillow. (Default)
Because this post is also about the MCR show, I am titling it like a bandom fic in a probably doomed effort to give it some coherency. (PS. I was this close to calling this post "Let's Get Together (Yeah Yeah Yeah)" like the rocking number from the original movie of The Parent Trap but I resisted.)

•MCR show last night was awesome! Even though I got stuck at work until 8 I managed to find [personal profile] zeenell and [profile] pseudo_catalyst and eventually [profile] solar_cat and I jumped around like a crazy person and now I feel like I've been run over by the Killjoys trans am but it was totally worth it. Also, I have The Only Hope For Me Is You stuck in my head, which is not the song I expected to be earworming me the morning after. SUCH AN AWESOME SHOW. If only they had played Bulletproof Heart.

•Also! If you are plan-less and can be in New York for New Year's consider your ass invited to the fangirl NYE party [personal profile] leupagus and I are throwing. Expect the usual booze and buttsex. Comment over here, we're trying to gauge interest. Parties!
merelyn: (katie&angel)
If you're starting to feel like all my LJ posts lately are just about fangirl meetups, don't worry, you're not wrong.

This is totally last minute, but since [personal profile] ras_elased is in New York City this weekend there's going to be fangirl shenanigans at my place this Saturday night! Plans for the evening include watching something terrible! Or nerdy! Or gay! Or something terrible and nerdy and gay! (What exists at the magical center of that Venn Diagram? I'll tell you. It's called Dante's Cove.)

AND IF THAT WASN'T ENOUGH, I promised [personal profile] puckling a pie/dessert ages ago, and she's finally collecting. Which means I'm making this:

Why yes that is triple layer cappuccino fudge cheesecake. Why yes it does have a pound of chocolate in it. Why yes you do need to come over and have some so I don't end up with half a leftover cheesecake on Sunday morning that I will then proceed to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and elevensies while avoiding laundry and watching terrible movies on TBS all day in my pajamas.

Things start around 8. Anyone's welcome, so if you're in the NYC area come on by. Just let me know if you're in and I'll PM you my address/contact info.

ETA: I should mention, in regards to the watching stuff, if you have anything fannish that you've been wanting to make other fangirls watch- that one show, or that movie that everyone else thinks sucks but no really it's awesome and they're SO IN LOVE YOU GUYS, bring it with you. We'll probably draw straws or something and see what happens.
merelyn: (bbt penny + couch = <3)
So, as you might already know, there is going to be a fangirl meetup/shindig/hootenany/hoedown this Saturday in NYC to celebrate [personal profile] cherrybina coming to visit.

Details are this-a-way over at [personal profile] leupagus's journal, but these are the pertinent facts:

We are meeting at 8 pm on Saturday, at the House of Brews at 302 West 51st Street, just west of 8th Avenue. We're going to be upstairs at the long table (also known as the nook) and we will be the ones talking REALLY LOUDLY about rimming. Or docking. Or jizz. SOMETHING TERRIBLE, basically.

If you're in the area, you should come! Seriously, everyone is welcome- even if you've never met anyone, I promise we're as friendly as we are tragically jizz-focused. ([personal profile] blameitonmerlin is even coming from Boston and crashing on my couch!)
merelyn: (spencer's smile)
So I know I mentioned recently that I'd gotten bored and fallen into a bandom hole? Yeah, that happened. While everyone else spent their summer playing outside in the sunshine with Sherlock and Inception and whatever, I basically became the pale creepy kid indoors listening to music in the basement.

Because it's no fun being a creeper in a basement by yourself, I of course have recently tried to trick other people into bandom, specifically Panic! At The Disco. I promised [personal profile] twentysomething and likeaglass I would pimp them into PATD fandom.

And since I wasn't satisfied with some of the more dated primers out there... uh, I made my own. I actually wrote most of this a month ago, but I'm posting it out of tiny filtered flock for posterity or whatever. I guess, like genius, shame also needs an audience:

That is Brendon Urie on a tiny bike. It needs no explanation.

Also yes, I am aware the only thing more ridiculous than getting into bandom now would be if I started watching Smallville or something. ROLLING, HATING, ETC.Read more... )
merelyn: (bbt penny OMG)
While I am thoroughly enjoying all the Arthur/Eames Inception fic that has exploded all over fandom lately (especially this story, have I ever mentioned I love heisting?) my favorite character from the movie is actually Robert Fischer. I thought Cillian Murphy was lovely, and Robert was pretty much the closest thing to a heart that incredibly slick film had. (I do not count Leonardo DiCaprio's manpain, sorry. :/)

And because I love Robert, I of course had to read this fic off the kink meme where he finds an abandoned kitten and that's all that happens but who fucking cares it's Robert Fischer and kittens.

AND THEN. Terrible twitter conversations happened, and because [personal profile] solarcat is amazing, SHE WROTE THIS:

The Strange and Unexpected Life of Robert Fischer, D.V.M. by [personal profile] solarcat (gen-ish, Robert/OFC/OMC, ROBERT IS A VET, Y'ALL)

It's actually my favorite lingering question from the end of Inception. What does Robert Fischer *do* with himself? [personal profile] solarcat's answer here is that he becomes a veterinarian. Naturally. And if you think that's a cracky premise, think again; [profile] solar_cat makes it work. Robert's transition unspools in such a lovely detail-rich and organic way, and with a really great feel for him as a character. And of course, by the end, Robert gets exactly what I want most for him: good things.

GO READ IT NOW, I WILL STOP DRAWING SPARKLY HEARTS AROUND IT AND GET OUT OF YOUR WAY.
merelyn: yes, that is panda from skins hugging a giant fluffy cupcake pillow. (Default)
I haven't updated in forever (uh, hey!) but I have been awash in a sea of fangirls lately! (That sounds dirtier than it actually is, unfortunately.) Recent fangirl sightings below:

+ Last week I went with [personal profile] leupagus to meet [personal profile] ink_n_imp for a really cool speakeasy event at the Museum of the City of New York. And [personal profile] puckling came too! There was swing dancing, and very blue cocktails and it was one of those things that makes you glad to be living in New York City in the summer. (As opposed to sweaty and frizzy and irritated.)

+ At the last minute I decided to go up to Boston for [personal profile] ocelotspots's birthday shenanigans. Everyone was awesome about me randomly crashing the party, and I got to hang out with [personal profile] puckling and [personal profile] solarcat and [profile] likeaglass and [personal profile] ugasaiki and [personal profile] zeenell and [profile] heyjuuude too. And booze. Booze was there. Also, I got to watch a Kevin-centric episode of JONAS with [personal profile] solarcat, which was sweet because for some reason everyone else I know thinks the Jonas Brothers are lame or something. I have no idea where they get this.

(Oh yeah, did I mention I now <3 the JoBros? Anyone who knows me and my preteen taste in movies and music is probably not surprised that this happened eventually. I am the kind of person who went to a preview screening of Charlie St. Cloud and cried three times and who also thinks Zac Efron can actually act. And furthermore is convinced in my heart of hearts that this blind item is him and that he's secretly dating Lucas Grabeel from HSM. PLEASE LET IT BE TRUE, UNIVERSE.

Also! I'm totally into Bandom now too. Mull it. MULL IT. Or check my delicious for fic I'm reading, some Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas fic, some Panic! Brendon/Spencer stuff, and also some Inception and Sherlock.

The lesson learned in this parenthetical aside: shame is for the weak. Or for people who write 1776 fic.)

+ [profile] moonklutz IS COMING TO VISIT. LIKE TODAY. SHE PROMISED TO BRING ME ALL THE THINGS FROM CANADA. I AM MAKING HER A PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE PIE I INVENTED AM SO EXCITED. ALSO, I NEED TO START PERFECTING MY STRAWBERRY RHUBARB SHORTCAKE PIE FOR THE BROOKLYN PIE BAKE OFF IN NOVEMBER. WHY DO I WORK A LAME ASS JOB THAT DOESN'T INVOLVE MAKING PIE ALWAYS? GOOD QUESTION.

+ Also this weekend, [personal profile] leupagus and [personal profile] twentysomething are moving in finally (!!!) so I can start being their obnoxious third roommate ASAP. Seriously, their couch will have a groove for my ass. That's one of my goals for 2010. Ass-grooving their couch.

+ I need to get my coverage approved today- it's been a super annoying process thus far- but as soon as that goes through I am booking a plane ticket I can barely afford to go visit [personal profile] rageprufrock and [personal profile] zoetrope in London next month!

In conclusion: fangirls! \o/
merelyn: (bbt penny OMG)
I debated posting this for a bit because it's kind of capslocky, but it's not like I update this journal a lot and I had to share anyway because:

WHITE COLLAR WAS FILMING OUTSIDE MY WORK BUILDING AND I WENT DOWN AND I SAW TIM DEKAY AND MATT BOMER FILMING A SCENE WHERE THEY WERE WALKING DOWN THE STREET AND WHEN THEY WERE SETTING UP THE SHOT TIM WAS CHECKING HIS PHONE AND DOING THIS REALLY DUMB RUNNING IN PLACE DANCE FOR SOME REASON AND IT'S POSSIBLE MATT WAS MAKING FUN OF HIM FOR IT BECAUSE THEN THEY LAUGHED AND I PRETENDED TO BE CASUAL-LIKE BUT INSIDE I WAS MORE LIKE THIS AND THEY BOTH LOOKED AWESOME AND MATT BEING EVER SO SLIGHTLY SHORTER THAN TIM WAS STRANGELY CAPTIVATING AND THEY WERE LIKE 5 FEET AWAY FROM ME BUT I DIDN'T HAVE MY PHONE SO NO PICTURES BUT WHATEVER HOMGGGGGGGGGGG.
merelyn: (daneel is pretty)
Jensen and Danneel got married!

Yay!! J2 tinhat haters may hate but I think this is adorable. They'll have such pretty babies! Plus, I really want to see pictures of Danneel's wedding dress. (This could have something to do with actually having cable thanks to my mom's hotel room for a change, and consequently watching many many hours of 'Say Yes to the Dress' on Friday. IDEK.)

ETA: For those who are interested in that sort of thing, some anonymous soul linked me a picture of her wedding party here, plus JustJared is, of course, all over it. SO PRETTY. I LOVE DANNEEL.

+ Once again, apologies for not being around much, I am trying to do better and comment more, but I'm in like a quiet rut or something.

+ But in more exciting news, [profile] reel_merlin Round 3 is coming underway! We've already started getting some draft submissions, very exciting!

+ [profile] miripanda linked me this hilarious Pinto post on [community profile] ohnotheydidnt today, which was evidently picked up on Jezebel. Her only comment was, BTW Jezebel thinks you and your people are hilarious. (Your people i.e. those who want Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine to be gay together.)

It's like she knows me or has read my journal or that Home Depot fic or something. Weird.

+ Other things I've been up to include being able to claim a tiny bit of responsibility for some of [personal profile] twentysomething's latest Dean/Cas and Sam/Gabriel and Supernatural Apocalypse-of-Awesome and Deanna/Cas fics. Because I am an enabler, it's what I do, and [personal profile] twentysomething is like Pez Dispenser of hilarious and adorable SPN fic. You should all go read them if you're into SPN.

+ Lastly, as a gift (punishment?) to make up for my doubtlessly wrenching absence, have a fic snippet that is all [personal profile] leupagus's fault, because she's writing a Trek AU where they're all heisting criminal masterminds and she all but dared me to write a Trek/Ocean's 11 AU:

I am really, really weak to dares. So is Jim Kirk, I suspect. )
merelyn: (st trinian's)
So...it's been a while. (As usual, you say?)

Lately I've been shifting a lot of my fannish attention away from my flist and towards gchat and my delicious network/subscriptions. (And while there's a whole bunch of meta to be written about the way in which delicious creates the possibility for finding fic without ever interacting with another person or community at all, and how tagging fic is becoming an automated way of reccing fic, and how this will change what Fandom as a Community will look like going forward, I am not the person to write it.)

Also, this is the first time in a while I've kind of been without a large fandom to be invested in, and I guess I feel more scattered than usual. Anyway, long story short: apologies for the continued MIA-ness. I have been reading fic and whatnot, random things- AS YOU WILL SEE BELOW- and I've been doing some delicious tagging if you're bored and want to check it out. It's here, mostly fan stuff and baking recipes.

ANYWAY. POINT OF THIS ENTRY. BAD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN I GET BORED AND RESTLESS. I HAVE BEEN READING ONLY TERRIBLE RANDOM ASS THINGS. SO. WITHOUT FURTHR ADO:

Four FIVE Terrible Random Ass Things Mere Read On the Internet Yesterday (And Totally Liked FML)

1. Avatar: the Last Airbender porn- Dude, I said random. So I have only a vaaague idea about what this show is about- there's elemental magic and maybe freedom fighting and fire is bad and Hollywood is fucking racist and making the movie with a bunch of white people?- and I know even less about who anyone is. But dude, this fic was hot. And the set up and resolution of this story (angsty sex of feelings and betrayal and feelings!) goes whackamole on all of my buttons. The sad part is that this is may be the least embarrassing thing on this list.

2. That Sam/Dean/Lindsay Lohan fic called "Firecrotch"- Yeah, mull it. What is says on the tin.

AND PROOF THAT THERE ARE GENES FOR SHAME:

[personal profile] merelyn: Also, today is a terrible day. I have already read Avatar the Last Air Bender fic, and I currently have a Sam/Dean/Lindsay Lohan fic open in a tab that I CANNOT LOOK AWAY FROM IT IS LIKE A CAR CRASH OF SLUTTINESS AND INCEST AND RPF FML.
[personal profile] circa_eve: Haha
I think I've read that one.
[personal profile] merelyn: HAHA
[personal profile] circa_eve: It is pretty amazing
[personal profile] merelyn: <3

3. The MOST AMAZING piece of House/Wilson art I have EVER SEEN- Okay so maybe I've never looked at any other House fanart before, but it still stands. Backstory is that this artist got a weirdly worded prompt for a exchange challenge. And apparently a wombat is some sort of euphemism for sex or something, IDK? (Really, Fandom?) I'd never heard of it before, and apparently neither had the artist, because LIKE A CHAMP S/HE RENDERED IT FAITHFULLY AS WRITTEN. I laughed so hard I cried, guys.

4. A J2/Little Mermaid fusion fic called "What's a Fire, and Why Does it Burn?"- This one I stumbled upon mostly for the benefit of [personal profile] twentysomething, whose ultimate dream in life is probably to be in a situation where she can legitimately yell, "BUT DADDY, I LOVE HIM!" And yet I stayed and read the whole thing. And I...I have no idea anymore if this story is even bad or good, guys. I DON'T EVEN CARE. But I will say that it does some interesting things narratively by putting the story in the Prince's POV instead of the Mermaid ("MerMAN, Dad. MerMAN.") because of course everyone has seen the Little Mermaid, right? There's a lot of delicious dramatic irony with Jensen trying to figure out what the deal is with the mute hottie in his castle while the audience of course already knows why Jared the Erstwhile MerMAN picked up his dinglehopper fork that way at the dinner table. (OMG I JUST WROTE THAT SENTENCE. LOOK AT IT. TERRIBLE. FANDOM YOU'RE RUINING MY LIFE.)

ETA THANKS TO [personal profile] leupagus WHO IS A TERRIBLE HUMAN BEING:

5. Uniporn that is like Lisa Frank meets NSFW- Again. [personal profile] leupagus is a terrible person, in case you didn't know:

[personal profile] leupagus: Someone linked this on my flist
Be warned
This is so completely terrible
http://www.regretsy.com/2010/02/10/me-so-horny-nsfw/
[personal profile] merelyn: AHHH.
I LITERALLY JUST SHRIEKED.
[personal profile] leupagus: I KNOW RIGHT????
LIKE, WHAT.
WHAT.
[personal profile] merelyn: WHY DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?
THE ARTIST IS FROM PORTLAND.
[personal profile] leupagus : IT EXPLAINS SO MUCH.
[personal profile] merelyn: MAYBE I CAN CALL [personal profile] circa_eve TO FIND THIS PERSON AND PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE.

merelyn: yes, that is panda from skins hugging a giant fluffy cupcake pillow. (kate hewlett)
So the last time I posted was, um, almost a month ago? Uh. Hey. ::sheepish wave::

*Right after that, my trusty netbook died. My mom got me a new one for Christmas (this one, if anyone's interested) which was cool of her since I couldn't really afford it on my own at the moment. That said, it was something like three weeks with no home access to the internet except for my iPhone, just in time for the penultimate Merlin episode. But I survived! It's possible! I read books and shit! Though I know I missed a crapton of flist goings on, so sorry. (Point me toward the notable/good stuff?)

*I have finally seen Merlin, and Sherlock Holmes, I've read some Yuletide, and I even caught the Doctor Who finale yesterday while clutching [personal profile] mklutz's virtual hand. It seems a little silly at this point to comment on anything, as everyone else has already said pretty much everything ages ago. Okay, but seriously, Doctor Who. Hmm, not so much with squee. )

*Also [personal profile] rageprufrock and [personal profile] thehoyden made me watch (okay, I went willingly) Die Hard 4 over New Years. This resulted in me spending most of this weekend indoors (it was freezing, okay?) reading John/Matt fic. This is what happens when everything is on hiatus.

*Lots of people seem to have done 2009 Year in Review stuff, which is cool. I have whipped up my own version:

Fandom lines I used to have but misplaced somewhere in 2009, the shame shame shame edition. )

Lesson learned: lines are silly, and meant to be crossed. I am on track for 2010 to have no lines/standards whatsoever. By this time next year I fully expect to be doing nothing but injecting MPREG and sweeping Civil War AUs (and sweeping MPREG Civil War AUs) between my toes like someone from Trainspotting.

*So. How are you guys?
merelyn: (bbt penny + couch = <3)
Busy weekend, [personal profile] j_apollo visited me (yay) but now I have a lot to do at work today since I've got a grand jury duty summons tomorrow (all together now: BOOOOOOO). Also I'm tired and everyone else has Columbus Day off and there's a run in my stockings and my soul is basically like THIS.

BUT. LOOK WHAT APPEARED ON MY FLIST TO MAKE MY MONDAY BETTER:

The Little Vulcan by [personal profile] ayalesca (Gen: Spock with Kirk and McCoy, G)

Yes. It's the Trek/Little Prince fusion fic that seems so necessary and obvious in retrospect. [personal profile] ayalesca perfectly blends the two stories, and oh my heart you will absolutely love Spock in this story. I also adored how she did Bones. And if that wasn't enough, the story is accompanied by three completely goregous watercolor illustrations by [profile] mangotrills. I am going to go back and hug this charming and lovely fic to my chest as further protection against Mondays.

Some of these have been recced in my lj before, some haven't, but I thought I'd put all the links up here in one post for my own reference. All twelve are worth a read (or a re-read) by the way!
